Cogs is an autistic-led technology company creating digital tools for the neurodivergent community. Our mission is to reduce the inequalities faced by neurodivergent people in their day-to-day lives, starting with mental health.

What is the Cogs Membership?

The Cogs Membership gives you full access to our Mental Wellbeing Coach mobile app.

Who could benefit from becoming a Cogs Member?

We’ve designed the membership around the mental health needs of the neurodivergent community, specifically difficulties neurodivergent people may experience processing, regulating and communicating their emotions. This can affect people across the neurodivergent spectrum and isn’t diagnosis-specific, though autistic people, dyspraxic people and people with ADHD may find the Cogs Membership particularly tailored to the way in which they process emotional information.

♾🌈 We don’t believe you need a diagnosis to validate neurodivergence and welcome both people with diagnoses and those who have self-ID’d. 

How old do I need to be to become a Cogs member?

You need to be 13+ to use the Mental Wellbeing App. This is due to considerations around child safety and data protection.

How is the Cogs Mental Wellbeing Coach different from other mental health apps?

The Mental Wellbeing Coach is the only app that has been designed specifically for the mental health needs of neurodivergent people.

We spent two years doing community-based research, discovering what neurodivergent people themselves wanted support with. We then looked at the neuroscience research around differences in emotion processing that neurodivergent people experience, and combined it with practical methods being used in occupational therapy, special education and within the neurodivergent community.

We’re an autistic-led company and 50% of our team is neurodivergent. We know that the best solutions come from neurodivergent people themselves and we’ll always be grounded in the voices of the community.

Is the Mental Wellbeing Coach a medical app?

No. We’re specifically staying away from the “medical model” of neurodiversity. Instead, we’ve designed the app around research with the neurodivergent community as well as methods from occupational therapy and special education.

What languages is the Mental Wellbeing Coach available in? 

English for now, but we’re working on making it available in different languages.

How much does the Cogs Membership cost?

Monthly Membership is £9.99 per month or you can save 30% by purchasing an Annual Membership at £83.99 per year.

Who is behind Cogs? 

Cogs is run by people with both lived and learned experience of neurodiversity. You can find out more about our team here. 

How does Cogs keep me safe as a member?

We use a combination of automated and human moderation to make sure you stay safe on the app. If we feel there is an imminent danger to you or someone else’s life, or you’re under-18 and we have a safeguarding concern, we’ll take action according to our Safeguarding Policy.

How do I cancel my Cogs Membership subscription? 

You can cancel your subscription in the subscription management section of the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account and your account data go to the side menu of the Mental Wellbeing Coach, go into Settings and then tap the Delete My Account button.

How does Cogs deal with confidentiality? 

Whenever you use the Mental Wellbeing Coach, your disclosures are confidential. Cogs will not disclose what has been said to anyone else, except if:

• We believe there is an imminent danger to you or someone else’s life and we need to contact the relevant authorities.

• You are under-18 and we have a child safeguarding concern.

• We are legally obliged to, for example if we are asked to give evidence in an ongoing court case. 

What does Cogs do with my data?
